Show WORK RUSHED ON SCHODLADDITiDN The walls of the new mechanics arts and agricultural building of the Dixie college are now under course of construction con-struction and will be up to the square within the next week. President Joseph G. Nicholes reports that the work is being rushed as rapidly as possible in order to get the new building build-ing ready for the opening of school on Monday, September 12. With the addition of the new building, build-ing, which is planned to take care of the work in agriculture, mechanic arts, chemistry, physics and mathematics, the size of the plant of the Dixie college will be materially increased. The original building, being relieved of some of the classes which have been taught there heretofore, will still remain the center of administration. administra-tion. New office space has been provided pro-vided enabling teachers to either oc-Icupy oc-Icupy their own class rooms, or to oc-Jcupy oc-Jcupy private offices. , For the first time in the history of '.he college a model training class will iXe conducted. Miss Tillie Winsor will J be in charge of the class and that fact j of itself will insure success. ! The music department which has heretofore been in somewhat cramped V.carters will, with the addition of the j'iiew building, be given ample room. ; A stenographic bureau, under the j direction of Miss Mattie Pendleton, will this year be instituted. This will give to the students of the commercial commer-cial department an opportunity for efficiency ef-ficiency in training that has not been possible heretofore. Miss Pendleton returns to Dixie college again this season sea-son after a year at Armstrong's Business Busi-ness college, Berkeley. , The new building will also permit the domestic science department to expand ex-pand its activities somewhat. An additional ad-ditional room will now be included in that department and more emphasis empha-sis will be placed on serving. The catalogues for the coming season sea-son are now being distributed. |
