Show WILL CELEBRATE OPENINGNEW RQAO For about two or three weeks some of the leading people here had talked of some sort of celebration when the new road at Ash Creek " Dugway was completed but decided to wait until later before making definite de-finite plans as it was not known when the new bridge will be completed. complet-ed. A meeting of the business men was held last Sunday, presided over by Arthur F. Miles, Pres. of the Commercial Com-mercial Club, to consider the proposition propos-ition but it was decided as too early to take any definite steps. The Zion Park Club meanwhile had prepared a tentative program, fixing the date of the celebration at July 28 and the place Toquerville, the general public being invited. A copy of the call, signed by Chas. B. Petty and Chauncey Sandberg, president presi-dent and secretary respectively of the Zion Park Club, was sent to this paper with a request to publish j same. Upon receipt of it the editor got in touch with Mr. Petty by phone and told him what had been proposed propos-ed here. We then showed the call for the celebration to H. T. Atkin, chairman of county commissioners, who took itto Arthur F. Miles, president presi-dent of the Commercial club. The matter was fully considered, it being decided that it would be better to wait until about the middle of August, when the bridge over Ash creek would be so near completed that dancing on it could be indulged in, grapes would be ripe and the weather a little cooler, and hold a big celebration then at the bridge which all the county could attend. The result was made known by Mr. Miles to Mr. Petty who said he would get the Zion Park Club together to-gether and let the editor know its decision. de-cision. Wednesday evening Mr. Petty cal led the editor by phone and said the Club had agreed to call off its celebration cele-bration and join in the general celebration cele-bration to be held' later. This new road is one of the biggest things that ever came to Dixie, cutting cut-ting out a road that was much feared fear-ed by travelers, and the celebration of its opening should also be on a large scale. No time should be lost in making preparations. Committees should be appointed AT ONCE to get the celebration cele-bration outlined and under way. Finance, program, and other committees, com-mittees, including one on transportation transporta-tion should be at work right now. Do not let the grass grow under our feet. Let's get busy right now and push this thing right from beginning be-ginning to end without any let-up. To make of it a fitting celebration some "pep" is necessary. Let's have it. |
