Show V M KN I1 L.A ( 'KM JCNTS LOW IX COUNTY The percentage of women placements In Washington county in relation to total placements made there between Dec. 1, 1933 and April 21 ,1 934) was somewhat some-what lower than the percentage of women placements in the state as a whole, according to figures released today by George A. Yager, Ya-ger, director of the National Reemployment Re-employment (Service for Utah. In Washington county, 3.5 per cent of the placements made during this period were placements place-ments of women, whereas, in the state as a whole, women placements place-ments amounted to 4.4 per cent of the total. As approximately 10 per cent of the applicants for work in Utah are women, and as the bulk of employment obtained between Dec. 1 and April 21, was on public works projects, at, first glance these figures would seem to indicate that unemployed un-employed women have received relatively less benefit from the public works program than unemployed un-employed men. However, women received about 10 per cent of the total hours of work done on public works projects, so that the hours of work were distributed evenly between the sexes according to their proportion of the total registration. re-gistration. While relatively fewer few-er women received jobs the jobs women did receive lasted much longer than the Jobs received by men. |
