Show NINE ROTARIAHS ITO ATTEND DISTRICT MEET INSftLT IE The St. George Rotarians will have a splendid representation at the annual conference of the Rotary clubs of the Fifth District Dis-trict of Rotary International to be held in Salt Lake, May 10th and 11th. Nine Rotarians, most of whom were accompanied by their wives, left to attend the conference. Those who will attend at-tend are : Mr., and Mrs. Joseph Milne, Mr. and Mrs.. Will Love, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Dilworth Snow, Lloyd Davis, Gordon Mathis, Jos. 6now Ellis. Pickett, G. W. Hail and Judge LeRoy Cox. Dilworth Snow has been asked to sing as part of the program that will be presented and has assented. George C. Hager of Chicago, director of Rotary International, will be the principal speaker at the convention sessions. Mr. Hager Ha-ger is a past president of the Chicago Rotary club and is a prominent business man of that city. He is affiliated with. 20 large corporations. The conference will begin May 10th with registration at the Hotel Utah at 8 a.m. The conference con-ference will be called to order by Mr. Williams at 10 a.m. and the invocation will be offered by George D. Pyper. The address ad-dress of welcome by Mayor Louis Marcus of Salt Lake City, who is also a member of the local club, will be followed with response by Harry Benoit of the Twin Falls club. Mr. Cardon will then give his report and address and nominating will be made for the district governor for the next term. A feature of the first morning session will be a playlet on the Rotary code of ethics to be ' staged by 12 members of the Ogden club, under the direction of Frank R. DViggs. The luncheon for the first day will be handled by the officers offi-cers of the Boise club in cooperation cooper-ation with the other 14 Idaho clubs. In the afternoon, addresses will be given by Mr. Hager and by Robert H. Hinckley of the Ogden club. A banquet will be held Thursday night at, 7:30 o'clock at the Hotel Utah in charge of the Salt Lake club and under the direction of J. B. I Whitehin, chairman or tne entertainment en-tertainment committee. Breakfast Round Tables will take place Friday morning from 8 to 10 o'clock, The theme for the general session Friday will be "A Ro-tarian's Ro-tarian's Obligation and Opportunity Oppor-tunity as a Citizen." Subjects handled under the general theme will be: "To Think Independently." Independent-ly." by Jess Hawley, Boise; "His Obligation to His Community," by Clayton Jenkins Provo; "His Obligation to His Government," by Hugh Baker, Rupert; and "His Obligation to gociety," by Dr. L. John Nuttall Jr., Salt Lake City. Invocation will be offered by Sam H. Goodwin. The luncheon Friday noon will be under the direction of the Logan club, assisted by the other Utah clubs. Another address by the national director, Mr. Hagei', will be made in the afternoon, to be followed ky the introduction introduc-tion of the district governor nominees. nom-inees. The governor's ball at the Hotel Utah at 9:00 p.m. under un-der the direction of the Salt Lake club. Ladies entertainment will be a feature of the convention. A committee under the direction of Mrs. T. L. Holman, has completed com-pleted a schedule which includes a luncheon at the Salt Lake Country club at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Thurs-day, May 10th to be followed with bridge. On Friday, a breakfast break-fast will be given at the Fort Douglas Golf club at 8:30( and a tea in the afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Memorial House in Memory Park. Ladles will be invited to attend the general sessions of the conference. A feature of the banquet will be a pageant "Parade of the Flags," under the direction of Murray Sullivan. |
