Show nuMOHsnuE RAILROAD TO SOUTH We read in our Piute county contemporary con-temporary ,the Piute County News of Junction, Utah: "J. D. Stack, assistant general traffic traf-fic manager of the D. & R. G. railroad spent several days in company with W. F. Holt in Escalante, Tropic and other parts of Garfield county to ascertain the possible tonnage that could be made available for his company in case they should see fit to extend their line southward. "Mr. Stack was favorably impressed with the possibilities, of southern Utah and we earnestly hope he can impress his impressions on the powers behind the throne of the D. & R. G. company to induce them to extend their line on south through Piute and Garfield counties. "What with the immense body of timber only waiting transportation facilities fac-ilities to a ready market, what with the immense body of coal on the Escalante Esca-lante divide sufficient to supply the inhabitants in-habitants of Utah for hundreds of years, what with the increased tourist traffic to Utah's wonderland, plus the increased tonnage of potatoes in Piute and Garfield counties, we are unable to find any just cause or excuse for the officials of the D. & R. G. to not extend ex-tend their line south. "While here Stack took. up the question ques-tion of a storage cellar with County Agent McKay, and it was practically agreed that a potato cellar of at least twenty-five car capacity would be built in Marysvale so that our farmers who so desire could store their potatoes there in the fall and then they could load them onto the tram at any time the market seemed most available without with-out danger of loss by freezing."
