Show MRS. HUGE MILES " LOSES HOME 0! FIRE About 11:30 Tuesday morning, the house of Mrs. Alice Miles caught fire and within a half hour was totally destroyed. des-troyed. Mrs. Miles says she was out of the house a few minutes And on returning found part of the interior in flames. She believes the fire started between the ceiling and roof and cannot account ac-count for it. The house was a lumber one and was dry as tnder, consequently the fire made very rapid headway. The fire hose was quickly on the scene but the fire had such a grip of the building that the hose was useless. The only things saved were a sewing machine, a couple of chairs and a table. To make matters worse, the daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Miles, Leona, who was married mar-ried to. Hale Pearce a few months ago and is working at Terry's rjmch, had all of her best clothing, furniture to start housekeeping with, etc., stored at her mothers' home, all of which was destroyed. Mrs. Miles has been a widow many-years many-years and carried no insurance on the house, consequently the loss is felt very keenly by her. A. A. Nelson has started a subscription subscrip-tion list to aid the unfortunate victim of the fire. |
