Show Vernal City Council okays election revamping The Vernal City Council made it easier to be a candidate in next November municipal elections by eliminating the necessity for a convention. New state law governing municipal elections allows towns and cities to have a primary election, convention or neither to select candidates for the general municipal election. To allow more people the opportunity opportuni-ty to run in the municipal election, the Vernal City Council, on Wednesday of last week, decided to require candidates can-didates only to file with the city to be a candidate, eliminating the need for a primary or convention. Last year candidates had to be nominated by a convention, which could be two or more people. Vernal City councilmen whose terms expire in November are Jack Seitz, Karl Migliori and Greg Hawkins. |
