I was in the batter's box and hoping for one in the middle that I could get the bat on. 1 saw it coming-squared around and tried lo get it away from the catcher. It landed land-ed right in front of the pitching mound," stated Abegglen. "Having the number four hitter bunt fooled Union. Randy Nelson scored on the play and Crowl crossed home plate when I was forced out at first base." Crowl scored for the Utes to break a down a sacrifice bunt, which scored two runs in the first inning. 1 1 tie. "It was a bunt and I came from second base and scored when Union went to first base with the ball lor an out on the bunt. They weren't watching me and I sneaked in. They threw at home and then they wen! to firs! base and I scored," remarked Crowl. A single by Crowl in the bottom of the fifth inning drove in Brian McNamara with the winning run in the Utes' 3 to 2 triumph. When asked to comment on scoring the winning run for the Uintah Utes, McNamara remarked, "I was just wheeling. I could see the ball hit by Crowl wasn't going to be caught so I darted around the bases. Coach waved me in at third base and I turned on the jets and scored. The fans went crazy." The win over Union is the first baseball coaching win at Uintah High School for Coach Vic Anderson. The Utes have a record of 1-1. "It was a good learning experience. ex-perience. We made some errors. We scored our first two runs on a suicide squeeze play, it turned out well. We have been working on our hitting a lot. Abegglen Abeg-glen put the bunt in front of the mound. Union tried to get the ball to home, but missed getting the out. They threw Abegglen Abeg-glen out at first and Crowl scored." Anderson added, "Crowl got a good hit to score McNamara. Glenn Murray struck out three bat ters and dished out one hit in two innings "I felt pretty good in the game. The in side curve and inside fast ball worked well. My best pitches were mostly the corner ones. I had some real good defensive defen-sive plays behind me. I pitched only five innings because coach wanted to get a look at Murray," said Bobbins. Union pitchers walked seven Uintah Utes in the game and hit a batter. The Uintah Utes will host American Fork in a region double-header opener, Saturday, April 2 at 12 noon. The Ute junior varsity team will host Duchesne in a junior varsity game, April 7 and will battle Orem on the road in a varsity double-header, April 9. The Utes will host Mountain View in a double-header. April 13 and will battle the Bulldogs in Provo, April 16. Uintah will take on Altarnont in a junior varsity game at Altarnont. April 19 and will battle the Vikings in Pleasant Grove, April 23. The Utes will face Union in Roosevelt, April 26 and will host Altarnont Alta-rnont in a junior varsity game. April 28.
