Show Employment survey planned next week in Vernal area Local representatives of the Bureau of Census will conduct a survey of employment in this area during the work week of July 19-24, William F. Adams, Director of the Bureau's Regional Office in Denver, announced today. The survey is conducted for the U.S. Department of Labor in a scientifically designed sample of approximatley 71,000 households throughout the United States. Employment and unemployment statistics based on results of this survey are used to provide a continuing measure of the economic health of the nation. For example, in May the survey indicated that of the 110.7 million men and women in the civilian labor force, 100.1 million were employed. The nation's unemployment rate was 9.5 percent, about the same as the 9.4 percent in April. Information supplied by individuals participating in the survey is kept strictly confidential by law and the results are used only to compile statistical totals. |
