Show Peace Day rally Saturday A spokesperson for the MX Information Informa-tion Coalition reports that 33 state local organizations have endorsed the June 12 rally to Freeze the Arms Race in Salt Lake City. Some of the supporting groups include in-clude Castle Valley Coalition for a Nuclear Weapons Freeze, Citizens Call, Downwinders, Holladay Church of Christ, National Lawyers' Guild, Political Economics Research Association, Associa-tion, Physicans for Social Responsbili-ty, Responsbili-ty, Reglious Society of Friends, Utah Clergy and Laity Concerned, U.N. Association of Utah, Utah Public Interest In-terest Research Group, Utah Wilderness Association and Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Governor Matheson has declared June 12 Utah Peace Day in obervance of the planned rally at the State Capitol which calls for Utah citizens to gather in protest of the escalating arms race. Demonstrations will be held in cities across the U.S. on that day in conjunction conjunc-tion with the 2nd U.N. Special Session on Disarmament, the largest turnouts expected in New York City and San Francisco. It is predicted that this will be the largest American anti-nuclear demonstration ever. The Salt Lake rally is being co-sponsored co-sponsored by the MX Information Coalition and Utahns for a Nuclear Weapons Freeze. Utah citizens are urged urg-ed to join with other Americans across the nation on June 12 to learn what they can do to help stop the arms race. |
