Show Dutch John 1 June Schaffran I Phr8-3728J Dutch John wrestlers participate in SLC Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rodgers, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gayle, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nicotera and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Meinrod all were in Salt Lake City this past weekend. They went to watch the Dutch John wrestlers participate in a free style wrestling tournament at Brighton High School on Saturday, March 22. Andy Meinrod walked away with first place and a gold medal in the intermediate 112 lb. weight class. Troy Gayle took a silver medal in the intermediate in-termediate 148 lb. weight class and Brant Meinrod, 75 lb. Junior and Mike Nicotera, 105 lb. junior both took bronze medals. Glen Ellsworth from Manila took first place honors in the 148 lb. intermediate class also. All Dutch John wrestlers qualified for the regional tournament to be held in Vernal on March 29. Joe Nicotera and Doug Dunn have been coaching the boys at Dutch John for the last four weeks. David Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Thompson of Dutch John was reported as making the Dean's list for the Winter Quarter. David is attending Utah State University in Logan. Why will the 1980 census ask everyone if they are of Spanish Hispanic origin? Because it will indicate for the first time just how many Hispanic people reside in each area of the U.S., down to a city block, and will help locate areas that require bilingual education and other special programs. |
