A. w fst Wrestlers from 4 states to clash in Vernal Tourney The Vernal Tournament, which is set for Friday and Saturday at Uintah High School will have state championship teams from Utah, Idaho and Wyoming taking part in the tussling action. The Uintah Utes are the defending 3-A champs in Utah, and Nampa, Idaho, captured the 1979 A-l state crown. Green River, Wyoming, is the defending defen-ding state champions from the state of Wyoming. However, the defending champion of the Vernal Tournament, which will have session times of 1 p m. and 7 p.m. .each day, is Rock Springs, Wyoming. j the top rated team in the state of Wyoming. Hodges placed first in the Rock Springs Tournament and was selected as the outstanding wrestler. He had three falls. Miller placed second and Hamel. Robles netted third places. Dallman. a sophomore, placed fourth. The Wolves have been using only ten varsity men, and five of those are sophomores. Nampa. Idaho, has 22 out of 24 tusslers who competed in the state tournament back on their l'.SiO team. Two wrestlers are allowed to compete in each weight in the Idaho state tournament. Green River's coach. Uirry lleslep, remarked, "Idaho's defending champs are tougher than Montrose." Nampa captured first place in a wrestling tournament, recently and Blackfoot placed third. Adams, lH5-Joe Ramunno and heavyweight. Dale Coyner. Adams, Look and Richard Barber pocketed second places in the Steamboat Springs Tournament. Steamboat Springs took fifth place in the tournament. Outstanding mat men for Orem should le RoU-rt Kresge, 155; Brett Richardson, heavyweight; Garrett Muse, 145; Gary Twitchell, 119 and Alan Taylor, 138. Or em placed fifth in the Orem Tournament.
