Show WWW i - "I CHILDREN at the Country Meadows School listen to a scary "z. Halloween story prior to the annual parade. Ora Fay Oviatt relates the tale. : Halloween ; celebrated at Country Meadows , : Autumns activities climaxed last ' Wednesday when all of the spooks and ' goblins converged on Country Meadows Early Education Center for the annual Halloween Party and parade. Autumn activities at Country ' Meadows have been enriched with field trips to Lind and Morrill Honey Companies to observe the bees in action with local honey producers. Trips to ; Dry Fork brought into focus the beauty : of autumn as the children gathered autumn leaves and picked apples. ' : From a trip to Lorn Merkley's wheat field came the lucious aroma of fresh baked bread as the children re-enacted the saga of the Little Red Hen. Autumn memories were permanently recorded as each child photographed twelve pictures of his choice and then mounted - the pictures, and with the help of the teachers, wrote his own special story. ! Halloween activities began with ! Jack-O-Lantern and witch collages. A special visit from Esak Sizzle, the school's own Halloween Black Cat and grand marshall of the Halloween parade, created the perfect atmosphere at-mosphere for the children to make their own black cats to take home. Understanding the coping with scary things was explored as the children made their own scary pictures to the background music of Stravinsky's Petrushka. As the children listened to this classic ballet, they created stories about the music, Comments like "Now an Indian is creeping through the grass," "to my talking tree," added another child, "with Chewbacca," quipped a third child. Cookies were not forgotten as each child stamped out his favorite Halloween figure from cookie dough. A Racial treat on October 21 was the visit of Miih Howe's Art 2 and Art 3 classes from VVrniil .Junior High School. Those students enchanted tlx? children with original Halloween puppet shows written, staged and cast by members of Miss Howe's classes. The children made the scarecrow that'magically came to life and talked to the children as they arrived at the Halloween party. Lighten Jack-O-Lanterns, toasted pumpkin seeds and hand-made trick or treat bags enhanced the Country Meadows party as the children paraded in their costumes, heard their favorite Halloween stories and poems, sang Halloween songs and sampled witches brew, root beer, and "haunting" doughnuts. |
