Show f t Sweetheart queen chosen The 1977 Sweetheart Ball took place I Friday I February 18 at atthe atthe atthe the Manila l gym The music for forthe forthe forthe the dance was played by the band Nice and Easy The main attraction of the dance was the queen contest Contestants Con Corn were chosen from various classes and organizations The contestants were Student Council Christa Ellsworth senior Wendy Behunin Junior Junior- Patsy Palsy Erich Sophomore Christine Redden Hedden I Freshman Christy Behunin Lesa Tinker Cheerleaders Cheerleaders- Louise Neff Drill Team Lisa Wilde and German Club Bonnie Lamb The girls were judged in talent dancing modeling and several other categories The judges were Pat Gale Carolyn Anderson Anderson Anderson An An- derson and Kay Potter Christa Ellsworth was Queen Lesa Tinker First Attendant and Christine Redden Second Attendant The girls themselves voted on Miss Congeniality which went to Patsy Erich February 16 the Manila Girls' Girls basketball team traveled to South Summitt to play their last game of the season The girls were undefeated up to this point but lost this game with a score of Manila 30 and South Summit 36 This put the girls in ina a tie for first place A playoff game will be played February 24 in Evanston The girls will again play South Summit and the winner of this game will go into the Region Tournament in first place TilE THE M 1 L Club had their Valentine party Thursday night February 17 at the Manila School cafeteria They played cards and Bingo Dingo Refreshments were served Mr and Mrs Forrest and Mr and Mrs Chuck Willis traveled to Salt SaIt Lake where Forrest is receiving medical treatment Hillis flew to Lubbock Texas to be with her daughter Bobbie Reich Heich The Reich baby had a heart operation Friday February 18 She is reported to be doing well The library job at Manila High School was awarded to Wanita Lamb Iamb Velma Lamb who was formerly formerly formerly for for- merly the assistant cook t took 1 over the head cook job and assistant cook was awarded to Rena Hena Mr and Mrs Doug Walters daughter of Mr and Mrs Allen are are visiting for a few months They are originally from Oklahoma but Doug will be leaving soon for Germany where he will be stationed His Ills wife and son will be joining him himIn himin himin in May Mr Mr and Mrs Levi Reed Jr and Mr 1 and Mrs Bill Bil Ralphs alp traveled to Las s Vegas N Nevada vad where they w will ill spend the week |
