L Swett all of Vernal were among approximately approximately approximately ap ap- ap- ap proximately outstanding high school seniors who spent two days at Utah State University acquainting themselves themselves' with the campus meeting faculty members and taking competitive examina examinations HIGH SCHOOL seniors from throughout the United States traveled to Logan to compete for five University Club Scholarships worth each To be invited to the competition the seniors had to be in the top five percentile on American College Test scores or be semifinalists semifinalists semifinalists semi- semi finalists in the National Merit scholarship competition The exams helped university officials decide which students will receive the University Scholarships Over the six the yea that the com competition petition Sas has l been in effect nearly half or of all the outstanding students who have entered ha have ve subsequently enrolled at Utah State Many who have not won the University Scholarship have received other awards for their collegiate work GEORGE is the son of Howard Funk He is a member of the schools school's Forensics Club and is currently enrolled in the Extension Class Division at Vernal Cindy is the daughter of WC and Barbara James She is a National Merit semi-finalist semi and is a member of the schools school's National Honor Society She Ison is ison ison on the Drill Team and enrolled in two extension classes She plans to major in the sciences Craig is the son of Wayne and Sally Swett He is on the football football football foot foot- ball baseball and track teams He lie is a member of the Debate Club and plans to major in engineering |
