Show Early morning fir fire levels Searle home A fire ball display of flames in the dead of night wiped clean Woodey and Vonetta Searles Searle's show place home p perched d high do n the foothills north of Vernal overlooking the Ashley Valley The fire rire alarm was turned in about 12 1245 45 Friday morning and by the time three Vernal Verna Volunteer Fire Department units arrived the spacious square foot floor space home was completely destroyed by fire TilE THE HOME was in the inside finishing stages The rock work on one fireplace and a wall divider had been completed d and the second fireplace was nearly complete stated staled Mr Searle Mr Searle said it took him nearly two years to prepare the site for his hill top home He blasted and scraped the hill top to lo make the level area where his home once stood Actual construction began in November of 1975 and in another month the home would have been completed A new paved road and Underground underground underground un Un- un- un utilities including city water waler have all been built to dream Mr Searles Searle's remote home ACCORDING TO Mr Searle and also Fire Chief Dale the origin of the fire rire is still unknown Many theories have been suggested but bUl all have been discounted Mr Searle asked the fire department department depart depart- ment not to douse the fire with water since the home was completely destroyed by the time lime they arrived Mr Searle stated he had about aboul in the home and only In insurance He plans to rebuild immediately as soon as materials can be ob ob- tamed Many people saw the fire rire from their homes in Vernal and others say they heard and felt Celt an explosion The structure was faced with brick All the brick was knocked off the foundation and everything burnable was consumed |
