Show o 4 1 i a X f 31 t I a 4 N u a FIFTH GRADE students at Maeser school put the finishing touches on a quilt which will be besent besent besent sent to Freedoms Freedom's Foundation valley Forge Penn The quilt will be on display for four years at the Foundation Students end studies by making quilt Students at Maeser School are finishing up their studies of the United States of America by portraying the American way of life in a quilt The quilt shows a scroll depicting important aspects of the Declaration of Independence Independence Independence In In- dependence with all 56 names of the signers of the Declaration It also has a scroll the Declaration of Allegiance stating that the students of Maeser grade declare their love and appreciation and pledge their allegiance to the United States This is signed by 90 fifth grade students Blocking depicting various American symbols Liberty Bell maps flags nags Statue of Liberty shields and eagles adorn the quilt These blocks were made by the children and colored with fabric crayons It was no easy task to todo todo todo do everything backwards on the paper block so it would come up right when ironed onto the cloth stated Doris Morrill one of the instructors Every student in the class participated participated participated par par- in making and quilting the quilt Surprising as it may seem these children would rather quilt than have recess Rayma Miller was joined by byKari byKari Kari Karl Atwood and Lydia Smith stating statin Its Its funner that math Nyle Cook was not quite as enthused he said I stick my finger too much Sarah Long Longa a added ded we e might be be able to make one for our hope chest at Smith Tonya Mecham and Hank Richens summed it up with I like it it Hank adding You get out of work The students are instructed by Mrs Morrill Merrill Kathy Frazier and Harry Terry They have been working on the quilt for about one week It will be he years in the Freedoms Freedom's Foundation n at at Valley Forge Pennsylvania Penn Penn- PennI I sylvania |
