S Geological Survey employees employee's life was saved Wednesday Sept 21 by the combined efforts of a fellow employee and the Bureau of Land Management after being stricken with a yet-to-be- yet diagnosed illness while working in in the Seep Ridge area in the Mr Dennis Patterson a hydrologist in the Water Resource Division of the became ill Wednesday morning while working with Hydrologist Walter WaJter F F. F Holmes also of the Water Resource Division The two Vernal residents were making hydrologic investigations in the area when Patterson became ill Holmes radioed for assistance to the office who in turn contacted Bob Jensen of the Jensen who happened to be in the area area immediately came carne to their aidA aid A helicopter was dispatched from the office in Moab following the summons for help and flew the stricken Patterson to the Uintah Umlah County Hospital for treatment While awaiting transportation transportation transportation tran tran- to the hospital it was reported Patterson lost consciousness consciousness consciousness con con- and for a brief period of time quit breathing at which time to mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was applied to ta Patterson by Holmes Through the efforts of the thinking quick-thinking Holmes and the employees Patterson was reported to be in good condition He was released from the Uintah County Hospital the following day Patterson checked into a Salt Lake City Hospital Friday Sept 23 23 for further further- tests in hopes of diagnosing the illness that struck him on Wed J |
