| Show r f 4 f Pj s p Y tp 13 BONNIE HOWE whose paintings will be featured at atthe atthe atthe the Little Gallery of Arts during October is also a poet Little Gallery schedules Bonnie Howe as Oct artist A woman one-woman show sponsored sponsored sponsored spon spon- by the Little Gallery of Arts October 3 to 26 will fea feature ture local artist and poet Bonnie Howe If one word could describe the show it would be variety variety- variety of media ranging from pencil ink watercolors and oils to variety of subjects subjects- landscapes abstract portraits and caricatures of close friends MISS HOWE graduated from BYU in 1974 where she majored in Art and English completing the five years necessary to earn earna a double major degree Bonnie came to Vernal in the fall of 1974 and began teaching art at the junior high school I love Vernal smiled Bonnie I hope to make it my permanent home Brought up in southeastern Idaho she had no Opportunity to study art until she enrolled at atthe atthe atthe the university I knew then that that was what I wanted to todo todo todo do with my life As president of oL the Uintah h Poetry Society Bonnie enjoys literary as well as visual arts Poems she has written may be viewed on the Poetry Corner board as well as her paintings in inthe inthe inthe the Little Gallery She has narrated Voice of Reflections over each Sunday for the past year using the work of local and Utah poets TEACHING has become my greatest love remarked Bonnie Students are my family and through the teaching of a creative subject-like subject art I hope to instill a self-confidence self an idea of worth self in students I would teach students even if I had a million dollars right now Its It's the way I feel that Im I'm giving something back to life We need art for the same reason we need air and sunlight and wind in the trees Art testifies to us that we are alive spiritually tua lly men mentally tally emotionally and physically What I leave behind in pictures and words will be my legacy Im I'm trying to make it a worthwhile worthwhile worthwhile wor wor- one A reception for Miss Howe will be held Monday October 3 from 7 to 9 pmt pm at the th the Vintah Uintah County Library The public is invited The show can be viewed from the 3rd through the of October |
