Show Our Fire Department. Logan now has a fire department fully organized, which promises shortly to become thoroughly efficient. The building on 3rd street, immediately west of Z.C.M.I., formerly occupied as the City Recorder's office, has been somewhat remodeled and fitted up for a fire station. An Excellent hose cart, made at the U.O. Foundry, has been loaded with some 200 yards of hose. It is their intention to erect a tower for drying the hose. The department already [unreadable] sufficient members for two companies and it is expected that it will soon be divided into one hose and one hook and ladder company, and that apparatus for the latter will soon be procured. The following are the names of the others of the company: Chief Engineer, P.M. Curtis, 1st Assistant, C.B. [unreadable] 2nd Assistant, Paul Cardon; Foreman, M.H. Farnon; Assistant Foreman, John Squires; Secretary, N.W. Haws; Treasurer, R. Kirkham; Steward, John Larsen. Article four of constitution of Logan Fire Company No. 1. Meetings of the company: "The Company shall meet at the Fireman's Hall on the last Wednesday of each month, throughout the year, which meetings must be attended without notification; the Foreman shall have power to call special meetings of the company, for special business, in which case the company shall be notified by written or printed notifications, signed by the secretary. |
