R WILLIAMS IS and Fwd ROY nOY ELIASON Why have such a big dispute when the Supreme Court has been bee changed six times in the past The Supreme Court has had its' its size changed six times in its history history history his his- tory and it was charged that each change was dictated by politics That is to say certain national policies were being affected by bythe bythe bythe the Court as then constituted and its size was enlarged or contracted contract contract- ed in an effort to make malee the Supreme Supreme Supreme Su Su- Su- Su preme Courts Court's opinions conform more nearly to the policies of the Administration in power Indeed Congress has used its power to reg regulate late the Courts Court's procedure and jurisdiction to guarantee that its decisions did not upset the of the govern govern- ment Adams had bad the size of the Court r reduced so his successor Jefferson might not have a chance to appoint a member to the Court Jefferson had the Supreme Supreme- Courts Court's term abolished for two years so that it might not interfere The Congress increased the size of the Court to thwart Johnson and promptly increased it to accommodate accommodate accommodate ac ac- ac- ac Grant But it is said these were not lar large e changes Let Letus Letus Letus us remind you that in the days gone by they changed the size ot of the Court enough to meet lems If it was all right to change the size of ot th the Court by two to help Grant and by three to Johnson What's wrong with changing it by adding six six if necessary to help Roosevelt meet his problems Wo We believe in elderly elderly eld eld- eldI erly men In the G Government but not a government by elderly men menI only Signed M.
