Show SUMMARY OF PAST YEARS YEAR'S DOINGS IN SCHOOL DISTRICT By Supt LeRo LeRoy Bishop Last year for the first time tUne all of the schools of the district were operated for a a. full lull year of nine months mon or thirty six thirty six weeks They They will operate for a full term this year 37 1936 Not only were schools operated for Cor the full tull term of nine months but a larger percentage of the pupils were enrolled during a greater part of the thc year Through I wise cooperation with the State Juvenile Court Commission the State School Office Offic and our neighboring school district the services on a year round basis of School Coordinator and Juvenile Judge D D. C. C Sparks were secured His work is of inestimable value to the district distri t in securing anc and maintaining the attendance of pupils whose parents are either unable or unwilling to see to it that their children receive the advantage advantage advantage ad ad- vantage of regular school attend attend- ance It is difficult to state with accuracy accuracy the they the number of students who attended school who would not otherwise have done so but it is evident that the number is rather large The coordinator has also been instrumental in effectively adjusting the educational program of problem children to better ad ad- vantage Holding Power Increased Through the cooperation of pr principals and teachers the holding holding holding hold hold- ing power of the schools has been materially increased The number of withdrawals was 95 compared with and for the three previous years The 96 who withdrew withdrew withdrew with with- drew before the close of school were were legally excused by Mr Sparks With this work b being ng followed followed followed fol fol- fol- fol lowed up consistently each year it should only be a matter of a short time until one hundred per percent percent percent cent of the students are legally accounted for during t the e entire school year Not only is this beneficial beneficial beneficial bene bene- for the specific students involved involved in in- but it improves the tone and morale of the entire school system Teachers and principals have cooperated well and have worked diligently the great majority with reasonably good efficiency A few lew superior teachers were outstanding in their work The lengthened school term the improved contract contract contract con con- tract and the new salary schedule have made it possible to attract more of the superior teachers to the district Teachers Certified Every teacher has been certified certified certified fied by the state school office I i The Superintendent has personally examined d the certificates of all teachers whose certificates w were re not already recorded by a a. previous s superintendent Seventeen n of the teachers took extension or correspondence correspondence correspondence corre corre- work during tl this s school year Twenty-seven Twenty attended summer summer summer sum sum- mer school last summer A rather comp complete te teacher personnel personnel per per- record was inaugurated whereby each teachers' teachers training experience ability certification and various statistical cal data etc becomes a 0 matter of permanent record This is advantageous in placing and supervising the teacher teach teach- er and in supplying information when needed Such a record is valuable and necessary in administering administering administering admin admin- the progressive salary schedule which was adopted As a result of a reasonably liberal liberal liberal lib lib- lib lib- eral budget appropriation for library li library library li- li books book and the cooperation of schools and P.
