Show Thursday's Pershing Shots Ended Spring Series WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N. M., June 39 -Four U. S. Army Pershing artillery ar-tillery missiles were fired Thursday (June 29) from Utah to New Mexico to wind up the spring series of off-range off-range firings that bgan in April. The two-stage missiles were launched from Green River, Utah, to White Sands Missile Range by units of the Seventh U. S. Army on temporary duty at the Utah Launch Complex from their permanent bases in Europe. The first round was fired at 10:30 a.m., and the final round at 2:30 p.m. Twenty rounds were launched launch-ed during the 10-week series including 16 rounds fired by U.S. Army units and four rounds by Federal Republic of Germany Air Force units. The program was supported by White Sands Missile Range organizations and by Army agencies from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. The fall series of off-rane firings of Pershing missiles from Green River has been scheduled starting in September. Septem-ber. The number of missiles to be fired in the fall series has not been announced. |
