Show Juvenile Court Reports June 19th Proceedings Five boys appeared in 5th District Court on June 19ih of charges of unlawfully' entering en-tering the Grand County High School building. It had previously been reported in the news media that the boys had been charged with burglary burg-lary and destruction of pre. perty. However, Police Chief Mel-vin Mel-vin Dalton, who was present at the hearing, reported that he had received evidence that there were ether persons in the building alter the boys were there and that there had been testimony from other parties to the effect that the window to the building build-ing was not broken until after af-ter the boys had left the premises. pre-mises. The break-in was. reported report-ed on Sunday evening and the boys were allegedly in tvi High School from Saturday evening until Sunday morning. morn-ing. It was also reported that it appeared to have become common practice for students to unlatch the windows and enter the building. In other action, three boys received fines or work orders for operating motorcycles wathout license, and a 17-year 17-year old girl was fined $15 for failure to yield the right of way. A Moab boy was fined $50 with half of the fine suspended suspend-ed for disturbing the peace. Another boy was fined $100 with $75 suspended for disturbing dis-turbing the peace and assault and battery. It was taken into in-to consideration that the bov had already paid $225 to repair re-pair damages to his automobile automo-bile which had resulted from the same incident. A case of disturbing the peace against a third boy is still pending, and charges of curfew violation against two other boys involved in tile, incident were previously handled unofficially by the probation officer. Charges against another youth have been dropper by the referring refer-ring officer. Judge Paul Keller presid. ed at the hearings. |
