''As far as I knew," CTi i s is the only university program of its kind,'' said Clifford Segerb'om, instructor of the innovative course, "and each .year our participants have a wonderful time." Beginning Sunday July 27, the river trip originates in Vernal, Utah, and terminates at Green River. The raft? pass through 150 miles of varied scenery including Desolation Canyon, an important im-portant early settlement of the Mormons. Students will not only paint and take pictures but will go on daily hikes to explore the surrounding countryside They may fish while they travel and their catch will be prepared for an evening meal. Another river trip, beginning begin-ning on August 12, takes the Colorado River from Lee's Ferry near Glen Canyon Dan: through the Grand Canyon to Sonth Cove at Lake Mead. Also an art workshop, it lasts ten days, covers 2S3 miles and includes much hiking and sightseeing. He has been traveling the Colorado River many years and believes its canyons, can-yons, coves and cliffs lend themselves beautitully to painting and photography. Also a judge in Boulder City, Segerhjom has instructed instruct-ed painting and photography classes at UNLV for ten years. |
