Show Cassidy Cabin Now Listed On State Roll The Maximiliian Parker cabin south of Circleville along al-ong U. S. Highway 89, known as Butch Cassidy's home, has been placed on the State Register Reg-ister of Historic Sites, one of the six historical and architectural ar-chitectural sites listed recently. re-cently. Dr. Milton Abrams, chairman chair-man of the Governor's Historic His-toric and Cultural Sites Review Re-view Committee said the 'la-bin 'la-bin was constructed about 1887 by Maximillion Parker, father of the famous outlaw, Butch Cassidy. Although the cabin was built after Butch left home, he did return from South America Am-erica and visited his family at the cabin on occasions. The cabin consists of two rooms with a chimney in the center. Additions were later made to the south and east of the building. A loft for sleeping was upstairs. The cabin is presently owned bv Mark B. Betensen son of Lula Parker Betensen and lives in Centerville, and op. ened as a tourist attraction attract-ion site all summer. (Lula i" the only living relative of Cassidy and is his youngest young-est sister). |
