NEW TECHNIQUE Joseph Antos, of Big Rock, III., spent a day or two in this area, visiting and becoming acquainted with the country and local people. He was being shown around by Leon Cook, who grew up in Green River a few years ago. Mr. Antos is an inventor of some renow n, his first invention inven-tion having to do with road-building road-building machinery at the age of IS. From that time, he has had numerous patents issued, and now can do pretty much as he pleases, from his estate in Illinois. The last few years he has been interested in photography, photog-raphy, and has developed a system of stereoscopic view ing of slides. This is a most sophisticated process, involving invol-ving two coordinated cameras, but the slides are mounted in a frame and viewed through a viewer, and they are simply fantastic. Unfortunately, he didn"t have any canyon slides set up, but this is really the way to view them, and Mr. Antos says it is possible on a screen. Mis projector is perfected, and will soon be on the market. Another of his inventions just hitting the market is a small cartridge of ten slides in a metal holder, which snaps the end up for a viewer, while the slides can be put into position by a lever action. This sells for $10 and is the perfect "proud grandmother" gift. Mr. Antos has several programs of his slides, which he projects with a dual lensed projector so that one blends off into the next one and give a feeling of movies. It was a fine evening of viewing, particularly particular-ly since the slides were of a canoe trip from here to the confluence of the rivers. It is a shame more people were not out to see the show, and surely is the last time I will tell anyone when something spec ial is coming along. AIRPORT NOTES Airport Manager Richard Ryan states that things are really booming around the port, with everyone busy. Instructor Dennis Hoffman soloed John Gartz on the 19th, and says that Kyle Ekker and Kenneth May will not be far behind him. Ground school is Friday at 8:00 and there are only a couple of slots left. Paul Bowerman will start his course soon. Redtail Aviation is much involved at Rock Creek, flying over almost every day to take boaters to Sand Wash, and dropping in on Nik Hougen on the way home every few days. Nik is fine, his garden is growing well, the milk goat, Martha, is happy with Rock Creek, and the two calves, Weiner and Schnitzel and the cats Kushka and Minnie are doing fine. Nik has the roosters named also, and the game chickens that came from California, are roosting happily happi-ly in the trees and much at home around the cabin. Mrs. Doris Kitchens and her daughter and a friend of Tamara's spent four days at Rock Creek while Nik had an exploring trip to the upper reaches of Rock Creek. A great time was enjoyed by all of them. At the airport, Jimmy Duerock reports that agricultural agricul-tural spraying has been high this month, with 4188 Y returning to service. He is also busy in the shop with several annuals on planes coming in and with an airfram being repaired for a customer in Moab. AiihlK to Sand Wash and to the airship al Mile lake up most of the good Hying time morning and evening throughout through-out Hie week.
