Show i I i Moab landfill plans OK'd by State fi ; Approval of plans for a new sanitary I landfill were received here last week, '. leaving only one major step before the facility could be developed. ; Dale D. Parker, director of the ; Division of Health Bureau of Solid Waste J Management, wrote to the mayor and city ' council last week, stating, "This office has received and reviewed plans and ; related documents dated August 9, 1977, '. for a sanitary landfill located in Section '. 20, Township 27 S., Range 23 E." '. "Plans are hereby approved, and this letter will constitute a permit for ; construction and operation of this I disposal site," Parker said. He noted that '. "adequate separation of deposited wastes from surface and groundwaters must be maintained in order to prevent ; water pollution hazards. Therefore, : refuse must be kept out of major drainages." ; The letter concluded, "We commend ' l you for your efforts to consolidate solid ' I disposal practices in the county and to ' establish an approved disposal site. If we '. can be of further assistance, pleast ' l34 contact this office." The landfill operation putting the old dump "to bed" ' is working very well.
