Show Moab Doctor Tells Local Ciub Of Adventure in Guatemala At the March meeting of St. Clare's Guild, Dr. Paul Mayberry presented a very interesting true adventure story his experience in Guatamala in the summer of 19G9 with a volunteer medical organization called call-ed AMDOC (Americ-isi Doctors). Dr. Mayberry's assignment assign-ment was with "Amigos de los Americas," a youth oriented or-iented volunteer group of young people between the ages of 16 and 22. Their mission is immunization clinics for DPT, polio, etc. and such things as giving medications, vitamins, first - aid and teaching child care and cooking. The program calls for a circuit physician at each clinic once a week. The young people set up these clinics in the villages, usually us-ually in abandoned buildings build-ings which they put in order, or-der, live in and work in. They are welcome, respect- ed and truste.l-truly Good Will Ambassadors. Included in Dr. Mayberry's Mayber-ry's humorous and descriptive descrip-tive talk were the customs of the people, politics, geography geo-graphy and climate. The people, though illiterate, are very well - informed, thanks to many Japanese transistor radios. The Doctor Doc-tor repeatedly praised the young people in "Amigus de los Americas" for the work they do and the sacrifices sac-rifices they make to help our neighbors in need south of the United States. The business meeting of the Guild was conducted by President Jean Shatley, w:ith devotionals given by-Mary by-Mary Riley. Final arrangements arrange-ments were made for Eastern East-ern Star dinner, to be held at the Episcopal Church, by chairman Bobby Long.
