Show Industrial PrositoHon Team Slates Talk Here A slide presentation designed de-signed to show the community com-munity what it may do to help prepare for industrial indus-trial development will be given on Monday,- April 12 at the regular meeting of the Rotary Club at the SunDowner at noon and at the regular meeting of the Lions Club at 6:45 p.m. Blair Walkinton, associate assoc-iate director of the Division Divis-ion of Industrial Promotion, Promo-tion, and Ray L. Sargent, economist for the Employment Employ-ment Development Division Divis-ion of the Department of Employment Security, will give the half hour presentation. presen-tation. Afterwards, they will answer questions regarding re-garding the industrial de-velopent de-velopent of Grand County. According to Jack H. Alstno, director of the Division Di-vision of Industrial Promotion, Pro-motion, the presentation will help to remind the citizens ci-tizens of what they may do to entice industries to the area, and will also point out what industrial development tools are available av-ailable from the Industrial Promotion Division. Alston noted that every community in the state has to have new injustry and new jobs, just to take care of the natural population popu-lation increase. He said, "Statistics show that birth rates are above death rates. rat-es. Ths means that every ten years this area will grow by 25 ,per cent, if no one moves in or out. "It also means the community com-munity must create on" job for every forty existing exist-ing jobs each year to keep opportunity in pace with progress." Alston added, "new industry is not only needed to create jobs and to provide opportunities for our youth: it also is important to help carry the ever-increasing tax burden."- According to Don Hoffman, Hoff-man, director of Economic Development for Grand County, the presentation will deal wth the factors involved in industrial development, de-velopment, labor, facilities, lofntinn. transportation, land use, utilties and incentives. in-centives. Mr. Walkington, pri r to joining the industrial promotion staff in 19G9 was associated with the Utah missile industry for ten years. Before that, 16 was a pilot with the Air Force. He is a native of Carbon County. Mr. Sargent was assistant assis-tant director of the University Uni-versity of Utah Bureau of Business and Economic ,Research before joining ithe Department of Employment Em-ployment Security. Hi was raised in Summit County. He has had extensive experience ex-perience in establishing 'branch banks, shopping centers and industrial facilities. |
