Show . citizens' right Actions of last weekend regarding the arrest of numerous nu-merous young people by law enforcement officers has aroused residents of the community in a manner seldom : seen here. Meetings this week have drawn fantastic crowds. And although many people scoff at citizens' : groups attempting to get action they feel is justified, : we're all for them. : It is the right of every citizen to seek redress when : he feels his government is not performing as it should. "' One city council meeting attended by four hundred people, however, is far overshowded by dozens of city "' council meetings which did not draw even one interested ' resident. In other words, it would be nice if residents '' were more consistent in their involvement with local - government, rather than waiting for a crisis to react. Comments from those involved in the meetings this week seem reasonable. They want to become better in-: in-: formed ; and are scheduling meetings to accomplish that : aim. They want cooperation among law enforcement : agencies ; and that they should be able to expect as con-E con-E ccrncd taxpayers. They seek changes to correct things they feel wrong ; and if they can prove their preliminary I opinions, they should be given the satisfaction of seeing : changes made by the responsible parties. |
