Show Thompson Nevs . . . Virginia Gruer By Betty Jeffries My fault folks for not having Thompson News last w eek, not the papers. No real excuse other than being busy. Paula Lemiuex and friend Cathy left for Indiana In-diana on the 25th. They said they were taking side trips along the way. One side trip that they should have arrived at just about the second of August was Kansas City, Mo. The 2 girls were going to stop and see Boyd Frame and Robert True and drop off a package from home. However, the day after the girls left Boyd called home to say he had been in an accident in the mine where he works and broken brok-en his left collar bone. I didn t have the heart to tell Boyd to hang tight as his nurses were on the way. Paula and Cathy are going to resume their nursing careers when they get to Indiana. They said it made a pleasant break to wait on tables for tw o months in Thompson Thomp-son at the Silver Grill, but now back to the bed pans and needles. Good luck, girls. Manuel and Kerry Agrilio and children also left for their home in Marion, Indiana on the 25th. The Lemiuex home must seem a little more empty with 6 leaving in one day. Saturday, the 28th of July, Jess and Betty Jeffries Jef-fries went over to Grand Junction and enjoyed pic-nicing pic-nicing in one of the small city parks with the oldest son Jim Jeffries, his wife and 2 girls and Betty's mother, Mrs. Lois Myers My-ers and Betty's sister, Judy Delanty and her 2 girls and Suzie. Judy's 2 girls (Lynly and Gwen) and Suzie came back to Thompson with Jess and Betty for a visit. July 31, Betty took the 3 girls oVer to Grand Junction to the oldest granddaughter's granddaught-er's 7th birthday party. A very good time was had by all in spite of a flat tire that was incurred. incur-red. Jess Gruver told me last week that possibly his mother (Virginia) will be home at the end of August. We may find out more on this before the month is out. The Wimmers took in a baseball game in Grand Junction, Colo. Friday night. It seems that the 3 Moab Women's Softball teams are playing in Grand Junction for three days. Charla Wimmer is the only member from the Crescent Junction and Thompson area. Gerri said the girls played real good. In fact, all 3 of our teams won Friday night. Sunday the Wimmers again w ent to Grand Junction Junc-tion for the ball games. The girls came out 3rd in the final play offs. We are all real proud of all our ladies. Erma Wimmer has recently re-cently been on a very nice vacation. She went to California Cal-ifornia to visit relatives and friends from the Car-mal Car-mal to the San Francisco area. I received more news about Virginia Gruver from her granddaughter Ginger Shuey, Sunday. Virginia will be home August 25th. Our tourists have slowed down some but there are still many days when we at the Tourist Info Trailer at Crescent Junction have to stay on our toes to keep up with all the questions askedof us. |
