Show Holbrook Heads Higher Education Board Donald B. Holbrook was elected last week as Chairman of the State Board of Higher Fduca-tion. Fduca-tion. The Board met in Cedar City in its regular regu-lar monthly meeting at Southern Utah State College Col-lege and selected Mr. Holbrook unanimously in an uncontested election to assume the Chairman's Chair-man's post immediately. Mr. Holbrook replaces Peter Billings who had served in the post since 1969. Donald Holbrook has been Vice-Chairman of the 15 member Board, composed of eight Democrats Demo-crats and seven Republicans Republi-cans since 1970. The State Board of Higher Education was created in 1969 by the Legislature. Their appointments by the Governor must be confirmed by the State Senate. Mr. Holbrook was previously appointed to the Board of Regents of the University of Utah in 1965 and was its Chairman from 1967 to 1969 when the State Board of Higher Education Educa-tion succeeded to the powers of the Board of Regents and other Boards of Trustees of institutions of higher learning in Utah. |
