Show k fej-Eoffoa Session Seventh Judicial -District Court was in aeaaiou Monday Mon-day for law and motion day a:; well as the opening term of miiil, with Judge Edward Shoya presiding. Trial rial es were set in several civil matters and all probations were continued con-tinued since il was the opening of Ihe term. A new jury was on duly for the 1,'iiril term of court. Appearing before Judge Shcya was Del ford IIol.z, who had appeal earlier on a charge o( selling drugs and had plead not guilty. He changed his plea Monday to guilty and a pre-sentence report was ordered by the judge. This report will bo presented on Oct. K', the next law and motion day. The Jim Jackson support sup-port case was cnotinued and a bench warrant was issued for Ihe arrest of Ronald Leo Wells for failure fail-ure to provide for a wife anil minor child. Trial date for the Stale of Ulah versus Robert Richard Ri-chard Scott was fc-L for Oct. 2S, on a charge of illegal sale of drugs. The case against a 1005 Fori I owned by Uoger Short will be heard on Oct. 15. and the case against Larry Morrison's ItJfi.'! Mercury will be heard in Nov. 10. In Ihe case of the state vs. Jerry E. Martinez on a charge of carnal knowledge, knowl-edge, the defendant plead guilty and waived lime for pronouncement of judgment judg-ment and asked that he be sentenced immediately. The District Attorney made the motion to place the defendant defen-dant on probation for a period of one year. It was made to appear to the count that the defendant had known the girl involved involv-ed for several years and that both wanted to get married but her parents would not give their consent. con-sent. The girl was 17 years of age and Martinez is 20. Under the circumstances, circum-stances, the court sentenced senten-ced the defendant for the statutory period of not to exceed 5 years in the Utah State Prison, but suspended suspend-ed the execution thereof upon the express conditions: condi-tions: 1. That the defendant defen-dant serve 6 months in the County Jail; 2. That he be placed under the supervision sup-ervision of the Adult Parole Pa-role and Probation Board; 3. That he not violate any law, State, Federal or local lo-cal during said period; 4. . that he not associate with any known criminals; 5. That he not become intoxicated intox-icated during said period. The District Attorney indicated in-dicated that the man had no prior record of any crime. |
