Wilson, recognizes Charles Parkinson, Vic Taylor and Elmer Lcystra for completing ten years of sen-ice with the government. ten Year Service Pins Awarded To Park Service Personnel Four men with the National Nation-al Park Service in Moab received re-ceived their 10 year service pins recently. Park Naturalist, Charles Parkinson, started with the Park Service in May 1903. Ke worked at Chesape.iK and Ohio Canal at Great Falls, Maryland from May 1963 to March 1967. He then transferred to Arches National Na-tional Monument where he has served until the present time. Mr. Parkinson receiv- ed his M.S. degree in geology geol-ogy from Miami University in Oxford Ohio. He is active in community affairs and is chaplain at the Elks Lodge. Elmer Lcystra who works 1 as a heavy duty track. driver received his ten year pin almost al-most before he became a permanent employee. He worked two years for the National Forest Service before be-fore he began work for the Park Service in January of 1966. He received his permanent per-manent appointment with the Department of the Interior In-terior in August of this yea-. Vic Taylor who works as supply clerk in the Canyo.v lands office, transferred n Moab from Mesa Verde National Na-tional Park in January rf 1967. He has worked in th? supply division since that time. He was raised in the Cortez, Colorado area and will be transferring to the North Cascades National Park later this month. I The last of the men to receive re-ceive his 10 year pin was Joe Carrithers, assistant superintendent of Canyon-lands. Canyon-lands. Mr. Carrithers came to Canyonlands in June of 1968 and before this time had been on a special assignment in Washington D. C. He also worked out of the Southwest regional office of the Park Service in Sante Fe, New Mexico where he was the assistant to the Regional Re-gional Director in charge of Cooperative Activities and Tublic affairs. |
