After the County Attorney presents his evidence then the defendant is given the opportunity oppor-tunity to call his witnesses and they are in turn examined by ined by the County Attorney. At the conclusion of a preliminary hearing every defendant must be given an opportunity to make a statement, state-ment, not under oath and not subject to cross-examination: The accused person as accorded ac-corded this right in order to enable him if he sees fit, to answer the charge and explain the facts that have been given in evidence against him. If it appears from the evidence that a crime has been committed and there is probable cause to believe the defendant committed commit-ted said crime the judge is required to endorse on the complaint an order, signed by ; him, to the following effect: It appearing to me that the crime stated in the complaint has been committed and there being sufficient cause to believe that the defendant committed said crime, I order that he be held for a trial on said charge." If it appears from evidence that there is not probable cause to believe the defendant committed the crime the judge is required to v make the following order: "There being no sufficient cause to believe the within . named defendant guilty of the . offense stated in the com- ; plaint, I order him dis- , charged." Colorado River Basin has been somewhat less than forecast earlier. This reduction is reflected in slightly lower than previously anticipated releases from the reservoirs. Most boating, however, should have ample flows. The flow of the Colorado River at Westwater Canyon is about 15,000 c.f.s. but may increase to 20,000 c.f.s. in the next few days. Cataract Canyon flow (including the Green River) should reach its expected peak flow of 40,000 c.f.s by the end of June. Lake Powell, now at elevation 3,671 feet, should reach 3,678 feet in July, or 3 feet higher than last summer. At Lee's Ferry, flows are averaging around 14,000 c.f.s. during weekdays and about 6,000 c.f.s. on Saturdays'and Sundays. In July, flows will be increased to an average of 16,000 c.f.s. during week days and 8,000 c.f.s. on Saturdays and Sundays. Daily forecast of minimum and maximum flows are posted at Lee's Ferry and Phantom Ranch. The release from Fontenelle Reservoir is about 3,000 c.f.s. and will be reduced to about 2,000 c.f.s. until fall when the flow is expected to be about 4,000 c.f.s. Flaming Gorge Reservoir is at 6,036 feet above mean sea level. It is expected to fill to elevation 6,040 feet this summer as it did last summer. The inflow is about 4,500 c.f.s. The mean daily release of about 3,300 c.f.s will be maintained in June and July. Daily fluctuations of releases from 800 c.f.s to 4,000 c.f.s will occur in response to power demands. Hourly pattern of release will be similar to Glen Canyon with minimums occur-ing occur-ing 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. The flow of the Green River at Green River, Utah, may peak about 20,000 c.f.s. after the middle of June. On June 27, the present release of 1,400 c.f.s. from Navajo Dam will be gradually cut back, reaching 500 c.f.s. on June 28. The flow will be maintained at 500 c.f.s. until July 12 when it will be raised to 1,000 c.f.s . The San Juan River at Bluff, Utah will peak at about 3,000 c.f.s. in late June. Blue Mesa Reservoir, now at elevation 6,494 feet, with presenntly forecast runoff, is expected to fill this summer to elevation 7,519 feet. Releases Relea-ses from Blue Mesa are currently 900 c.f.s and from 1 Morrow Point about 1,200 c.f.s ! I I About 800 c.f.s are being j diverted through the Gunnison I Tunnel for irrigation at the ! present time. This should 'vV increase to about 1,000 c.f.s. during the first of July. t c Some limited boating is being allowed between Morrow Mor-row Point and Crystal Dam this summer. To get through the construction area at Crystal Dam, however, you have to arrive before 5 p.m. on July 18 or August 15. i Crystal Reservoir will begin I to fill next winter, so this summer is your last chance.
