Show Literary Club Hears Plans For Mill Creek Dam Project The Woman's Literary Club lesson on Saturday afternoon at the Moab National Bank was both informative and educational, a member of the group announced this week. . In charge of the afternoon affair was the committee on conservation of natural resources, re-sources, Mrs. J. W. Corbin. chairman; Mrs. Birdie Young, Mrs. Flora Evans, Mrs. J. Wesley Oiver, Mrs. N. S. .Christens-en and Mrs. Roby Maybery. The speakers were K. E. McDougald, chairman of the Grand County Water Conservancy Conser-vancy District; Don Hoffman, secretary; Bob Norman, a member of the board; Bob Morgan, State Division of Water Wa-ter Resources; and Marvin Jensen of the Bureau of Land Management. The Mill Creek Dam Project Pro-ject was the subject of discussion. dis-cussion. This dam is proposed propos-ed to be built about a mile above the old power dam, and is reported, to rise some 210 feet, creating a reservGtr about 2 to 3 miles in length. Water may be diverted thru the . old Seeley tunnel in upper up-per Spanish Valley, known to old timers as Poverty Flat. . The club women have been asked to name the dam, because be-cause they were signers of the original petition. Mrs. Marvn Jensen, president presi-dent and Mrs. Carl Mikesell, vice president, attended a special meeting of the Eastern East-ern District Saturday morn- ; ing on the Community Improvement Im-provement Program being : carried on by all the clubs in the general federation. The next business meeting will be held at the bank on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The next regular meeting will be an International Affairs program , in honor of all people from j any foreign country. In charge will be Mrs. Emil Balla, chairman; Mrs. John Levering, Lever-ing, Mrs. Fred Beyeler, Mrs. Lowell Davis and Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Ritchie.
