Show Devils continue league wars at Blanding After a two-week layoff, Moab's Red Devil gridders travel south this Friday for what may well be one of the toughest games of the league season. Moab will meet San Juan High School of Blanding in a 7:30 p.m. encounter. And even though Blanding is suffering a 1 win 2 loss record in Region 7 this year, compared to Moab's 3 win 1 loss record, there is little question that Blanding will be up for the traditional rivalry with Moab. On U'p of that, it's Homecoming night at Blanding, and that should make something of a difference. Blanding defeated Emery High School in their only league win of the season. Their losses came at the hands of tough Delta High School, unbeaten so far this year, and to Hurricane High School a defeat that came after nearly 400 miles of travel for the San Juan Broncos. Blanding defeated Monticello earlier ear-lier this year in a non-league encounter. Coach Glen Richeson said that his team has looked better in practice sessions the past few days than they have all season. "We've been improving each week," he said. "If our strong defense can continue their effort, and we can continue to build our offensive game, we should be in good shape for the Blanding game Friday, and again next Wednesday at Emery." Richeson said that after a two-week layoff, the Devils were in good physical condition. It is expected that a large number of Moab grid fans will travel to Blanding to see the closest league game to be played all season. |
