SUMMER COMMENCEMENT TO BE LARGEST HELD In the largest summer Commencement Com-mencement rites ever held at the University of Utah, 364 students will receive degrees and certificates certifi-cates August 28 at 7 p.m. in Kingsbury hall, Dr. A. Ray Ol-pin, Ol-pin, president, announced. The College of Education will award the greatest number of degrees, offering 97, plus three high school certificates and one high school diploma. Bachelor of science degrees will be presented present-ed 17 students in nursing education, educa-tion, 39 in elementary education and 29 in secondary education, with 12 more in the latter field receiving bachelor of arts degrees. de-grees. Indicative of the accent on graduate work at the university are 85 advanced degrees to be conferred by the graduate school. Of this group two will receive doctor of philosophy degrees; 22, master of arts, and 61 master of science degrees. Other colleges confering degrees de-grees include Arts and Sciences, Business, Medicine, Law, Engineering, Engi-neering, Fine Arts and Mineral Industries. Dr. Virgil M. Hancher, president presi-dent of the State University of Iowa, will be the principal speaker. |
