Show L0CALN0TES Mrs. Laura Beck Hooten, 77, of Sandy, well known Utah school teacher for 53 years, died Monday at 8:50 p.. in a Salt Lake hospital of a heart ailment. She taught 20 years in South Jordan and Copperfield schools. She retired re-tired in 1941. Mrs. Hooten was the mother of Mrs. C. L. Joseph, of Sandy and former Bingham Canyon residents. Martha Circle held a lovely bridge party at Masonic hall Tuesday night. Prizes at cards were won by Mrs. Peter Smith, Mrs. H. R. Gust, J. D. Laycock and Robert Bailey. In charge of arrangements were Mrs. W. A. Fike, Mrs. George Bolman, Mrs. W. G. Thomas and Mrs. J. F. Barkle. Dainty refreshments were served to 43. W.B.A. held their March meeting meet-ing Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. A. J. Ablett. A business meeting was held after which bridge was played. Prizes were won by Mrs. H. R. Gust, first; Mrs. Helen Sullenger, second; sec-ond; Mrs. Verl Peterson, consolation conso-lation and Mrs. J. J. Doyle, house prize. Others present were Mrs. Howard Harker, Mrs. William Brown, Mrs. Peter Smith, Mrs. Norman Jacobsen and Mrs. He- ber Nichols. Dainty refreshments I were served. |
