Show BINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL NEWS by ReNee Johnston ee ee ee i e ee ee Carnival Dance Tonight Slim persons will get the advantage ad-vantage Friday, tonight, when the Bingham high school Yearbook Year-book staff sponsors its carnival dance in the gymnasium. Admission Ad-mission will be based upon the weight of persons attending the event that will feature concessions, conces-sions, barkers and midway dancing danc-ing starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited, so come and join in on the fun. All proceeds will go to the yearbook. Miss Coppertonian All senior high boys voted Tuesday, March 29 for Miss Coppertonian Cop-pertonian and her attendants. All senior girls are qualified and the winners will be announced at the Carnival dance Friday, tonight. Bingham High Speech Experts Prepare For State Debate After winning places in the region re-gion two speech meet at Wasatch high school last week, members of the Bingham high school speech department were making preparations Wednesday for competition com-petition in the state meet to be held at Brigham Young university univer-sity on April 9. Students participating partici-pating in the one-act play, humorous hum-orous readings, dramatic readings read-ings and retold stories are Mer-iam Mer-iam Peterson, James Peterson, Ned Miller, Mary Pappasideris, Larry West, Dick Jenkins, Beverly Bev-erly Beard and Kent Christen-sen. Christen-sen. Clinic Band and Chorus Concert The clinic band and chorus concert con-cert was presented Wednesday, March 23 at 8:15 p.m. in the Jordan Jor-dan high school auditorium and Monday, March 28 at 8:15 p.m. in Bingham high school auditorium. The concert was sponsored by the board of education of Jordan school district, Arthur E. Peterson, Peter-son, superintendent, and Emery G. Epperson, music supervisor. Chorus numbers included "Morning" conducted by Lowell Hicks, west Jordan junior high; "South American Fantasie" conducted con-ducted by J. Clement Crapo, Jordan Jor-dan high school; "The Bells of St. Mary's" conducted by LaVern Dickson, Bingham junior high; "Swiss Skiing Song" conducted by Evan A. Madsen, Draper junior jun-ior high; "Deep River" conducted conduct-ed by Joel P. Jensen, Bingham himh school; "Dear Land of Home" conducted by Clyde Miller, Mill-er, Sandy junior high. Chorus members selected from the Bingham junior and senior high schools are as follows: senior sen-ior high sopranos Doris An- derson, Maurine Morley, Betty Gressmen, Margy Isbell and Re-Nee Re-Nee Johnston; altos Beverly Allen, Shirley Anderson, Catherine Cather-ine Goris, Lucille Peterson and Gerry Shilling, tenors Ned Brown, Fred Peterson, James Peterson, Donald Throckmorton and Annette Haycock. Basses Ronald Ball, J. D. Boren, Kent Christensen, Boyd Stoddard and Bill Taylor. Junior high sopranos Mary Jane Adams, Roslyn Hansen, Patty LeeFike; altos La Von Anderson, Leora Hemmingscn, Aria Olsen; tenors Tommy Johnson, Jack Serrao, Earl Sy-browsky; Sy-browsky; basses Albert Galle-gos, Galle-gos, Ronald Kastelic and Greg Tyson. Band numbers included "The Skywriter March" conducted by Mr. Epperson, music supervisor; ' "Pacific Moon" conducted by Cannon Thomson, Midvale junior jun-ior high; "Cavalcade Overture" conducted by Jay Pond, Union junior high; "The Three Bears" conducted by Cecil Furr, Riverton River-ton junior high; "Melodic Overture" Over-ture" conducted by H. L. Rendlesbach, Rend-lesbach, Bingham senior and junior high; "America, The Beautiful Beau-tiful March" conducted by Mr. Epperson. Band members include: Junior high B flat clarinets, Janet Boulton, Shirley Cheever, Mary Lynn Gaythwaite; baritone Sammy Robison; senior high flutes Donna Jean Gadd, Donna Don-na Rae Olsen: B flat clarinets Ned Miller, Jean Nielsen, Karlene Kar-lene Wilson; French horns Maurine Ray, Gwen Sandstrom, Marlene Diederich; cornet Don Dioderich and Ray Christensen. Following the concert at Bingham, Bing-ham, a dance honored the clinic members and student body officers. offic-ers. Music was furnished by II. L. Rendlesbach and orchestra. Girls Club Dance The Girls Club dance "Suddenly "Sud-denly It's Spring" was a huge success and will long be remembered remem-bered as one of the school's outstanding out-standing activities. Highlighting the evening was the presentation of a floor show which included a ballet number by Jerry Wat-kins Wat-kins followed by a vocal number num-ber "Night and Day" by Margy Isbell. As the concluding number num-ber Mary Lou Ball and Carol Steel gave a tap dance. Beverly Beard announced the winners and Donnie Tyson crowned Dick Jenkins king and Julio Gallegos, prince of the affair. Mary Pappa- sideris, club president, was general gen-eral chairman. . |
