Show COUNCIL HEARS HEALTHREPORT Miscellaneous bills and payroll totaling $2778.21 were approved for payment at Wednesday nights regular business meeting of the city council. Also present at the meeting was Joseph McEwan, representative re-presentative of Beesley and Wood auditors who went over the 1948 audit with council members. Dr. F. E. Straup, city health officer, reported on a recent inspection in-spection tour in the business district dis-trict made by he and Mr. Lynch of the state board of health. Dr. Straup's report included disapproval disap-proval of very unfavorable sanitary sani-tary conditions and a fire hazard at Mascot rooms as well as fire hazards existing in several other places. City Attorney T. Donald Creer was instructed by the council coun-cil to draw up a city ordinance giving the council full authority to close such unsanitary places. Spraying of garbage cans with DDT as soon as supplies are a-vailable a-vailable under the direction of Fay Mitchell was also announced. Councilman Ross M. Cushing reported re-ported that Railroad avenue had been mulched. |
