Show Sports Here and There by Al Ablett The BDAA has entered a team in the Industrial league and from the meager information that I have been able to get, Frank Zaccaria has been appointed manager. What Zac will have for a team is just a guess. The majority ma-jority of the boys that played on the 'Amateur champions of last year are in school and of course won't be available until some time in June. The Industrial Indus-trial season starts about the first Sunday in May which makes it but two short weeks to get a team together, and in condition to play. So you can plainly see what a handicap Frank is facing. The field will be lighted by the 18th of May and as the schedule sche-dule now stands that will be the home opening. I understand they have plans to put the ball field in top top shape. This is a must because to play night ball on it, you must have a good playing surface. As I say, don't know what the team will have in the way of players but here's wishing wish-ing them luck. This year there seems to be more shifting of players from one team to another , than has been the custom in the past. Pin-ney Pin-ney of Salt Lake has dropped out, and of course their players are free agents. Earl Owens, last year's manager of Pinney and one of the leagues best hitters, has signed with American Fork. Again Nig Tate is the storm center. cen-ter. Last year Tate pitched Pinney Pin-ney to the championship of the first half, then transferred to Helper and was instrumental in the Miners winning the second half and the playoff. He main-' main-' tains that he never signed a Pinney contract, but he did sign at Helper, and up to now has never gotten a release from that club. The question is, is he a free agent at the end of the year, or is he, as the rule implies, a member mem-ber of the Helper team until such time as he has a written release from that club. It is a question that has to be settled once and for all. Because it is things of this kind that will wreck a league lea-gue quicker than any other thing. Pete Rudolivich at Magna is lining up quite a ball club I understand. un-derstand. Give Pete some talent and he will be tough. Provo is utilizing the youtft movement and have a number ot good looking youngsters working USame at Brigham City. Occie Evans of the Peaches has a great looking young ball player in this boy Johnson at shortstop. I will know more about the league after the meeting of the College ball is in full swing with Bingham having a number of players on each of the three te!?Sthe BYU-Utah games last week two Bingham boys stole the spotlight, Jimmie Brown at J&nTta Utah, and Cal Crump on first for the Y.
