A cloudburit over Capitol hill, suburb of this city, lust south of the Canadian river, riv-er, lastf night flooded that place. Seven personal are missing and reported drowned. Many persons, camped on the lowlands near the river, were caught unawares un-awares i and had but little time to make their escape. The river Is bankfull, and It will be some time before It can be determined de-termined If any lives were really lost. There was another heavy nalnfall this morning which caused the river to rise higher, endangering property In the lowlands. low-lands. . . ' . Three thousand people live on Capitol hill, which lies south of the North Canadian Cana-dian river, opposite Oklahoma City. The hill Is drained Into a small stream called Lightning creek. The water came down the creek and covered the lowlands In such volume as to force out people living In tents, shanties and small houses upon the low ground. Oklahoma City proper was not at all endangered. |
