Show COOK IN CAMP AT JORDAN NARROWS ENDS LIFE IN RIVER Crazed or Intoxicated, Han Known as Pratt Is Drowned. A man known as Pratt, 22 years of age, who has been a cook at the Utah construction camp at Graven in the Jordan narrows since May 20, was drowned in the Jordan river shortly after 7 o'clock this morning. From meager details of the case received nere, it has not as yet been ascertained whether he accidentally fell into the river or committed suicide. 1 According to a statement made by P. A. Fay. foreman of the camp, the young man was apparently drunk, although al-though he states that to his knowledge he never drank intoxicants. A short time after the breakfast hour the boy appeared before several of the employees employ-ees of the company and started to throw rocks at them. His actions could not be interpreted by the men, as none of them had ever seen him intoxicated. After throwing rocks he started to run toward the river. Mr. Fay instructed 'some of the men to go after him. Short ly after, and while the men were in pursuit the foreman left the eamn for Salt Lake City. At 12:30 he received a telephone call from the elerk at the camp stating that they had found Pratt's body rn the river. The body was found at a point about 800 or 700 feet from the nearest point of the camp, whieh is located lo-cated at the Denver 4 Bio Grande railroad bridge. Mr. Fay says that he has known the hoy siaee he started to work as cook in the employ of the construction company and has always thought that he was one of the best and most industrious men on the job. It is understood that the Pratt boy's home is in Minersville and that he has an uncle living in that town. |
