Show SEEKING ORE ON 500-FOOT LEVEL Of COLORADO HINE A force of man is still at work on the lflOO leva! of the Colorado property, this level being nearly 200 feet below the main ore body. The work has been In progress prog-ress on the 000 ever since the mine topped ahlpplng. & month or two ago. and during that time the showing haa been moat satisfactory. The lime formation forma-tion aeeme to be about right for the ore and it la the Intention of the management manage-ment to pretty thoroughly crosscut the ground at that depth. Recently a few men were put to work In the okf atopes of tha Colorado with in atructlona to spend their time in the development de-velopment of the lower grade ore, of which thia mine contains a large quantity. quan-tity. This milling ore ahould be a source of revenue to the Colorado as soon as It can ba bandied by the now mill which the Knight people are constructing. Work haa been temporarily suspended in the "American tunnel." which cats the western part of the Colorado ground for a distance of about 1000 feat Tbts tunnel was driven for the purpose of getting get-ting the vein which carried tha ore in the i ten property some distance to the south. The Colorado' management decided to discontinue dis-continue the work for the reason that the tunnel does not cut the vein at suffl- oaseV-oVnslsr-- "' 1 Blossom at Depth, Frank Birch, the assistant manager of the Knight mines, states that the caveln which took place about a week ago In the No. I workings of the Iron Blossom wee a pretty serious one and yet It will not result In any great financial lose to the company. It occurred In what is known as tbs "Van stops, " from which most or the higher grade ore had been mined, and for that reason It will not In any way Interfere with the mine's regular shipments. ship-ments. The caveln took out about 125 feet of the old workings for a distance of about seventy-five feet on tha length of the vein, and carried down a considerable considera-ble quantity of milling ore. By the time this ore is needed for the new milling plant the management will devise some other way of reaching it The usual amount of development work Is still going on at the Iron Blossom and the general condition of the mine could hardly be better according to Mr. Birch. On the 100 level. In the No. I workings of the property, the drift Is still being driven out toward the south, and at this time It Is following the side of one of the main breaks. Thia drift haa not developed de-veloped anvthlnc of value, but it ia ner- haps a little early to expect results Drifting Drift-ing will continue for SOO or 1000 feet further, fur-ther, this distance being sufficient to carry car-ry the drift to a point where the north and south break Is Intersected by the crossbreaks which, on the levels above carry some splendid copper ore. Opohongo Leasing Within the next few days a portion of the Opohongo mine at Mammoth may be turned over to leasees. The company will continue some development work which is now under way between the 500 and 700 levels, but if another month's work falls to disclose nsw ore deposits thst part of the mine may also be worked under the leaalng system. The Opohongo ore deposits have been getting somewhat "lean" for the past few months end during dur-ing that time the mine's output his been gradually falling off. The present tonnage Is Just about paying for the operation of the property and unless conditions change It would not be many months until the mine Is operating at a loss. In order to avoid this the management decided to give the leasees a chance to take out some of the ore which occurs In small bunches In the upper workings of the mine. The new work which le being done for both the Gold Chain and Ophongo. from the main tunnel level of the former mine, will no doubt result in the opening of new ore deposits for both properties. So operative Mining Quits a number of local mining and business men attended tne meeting which was hsld In Eureka on Wednesday evening for the purpose of discussing the proposition of organising a co-operative mining qempany for the development of a group of claims in the North Tlntlc mining min-ing district, a brief outline of which waa given In theee columns a week ago. Those present appeared to be very enthusiastic en-thusiastic regarding the new enterprise, feeling confident that a systematic campaign cam-paign of development work Is all that Is needed to locate commercial ore In a section of Tlntlc which has been sadly neglected for many years. Several of the property owners of ths North Tlntlc district dis-trict were present at the meeting, and ''apt Hugo Deprealn, who Is no doubt more familiar with ths district than anv other men. waa chosen as secretary. A committee of Ave was selected to formulate formu-late a plan for the organisation of the new company, reporting another meeting which will be held at the same place on Wedneeday evening of next week. This committee consists of E. J. Rhoad. Captain Cap-tain Deprealn. Edward Pike. Alma Peer-son Peer-son and A. L. Mataon. BOSTON COPPER CLOSE. James A.
