The case was submitted at 4:55 ! o'clock after a bitterly contested trial I that lasted for more than a week. The charge against Mullens grew out of a fight he had with Claude Fairbanks, Fair-banks, a neighbor. Mullens is alleged I to have struck Fairbanks on the head I snd in the face with shovel, and to have broken Fairbanks' nose with a' blow from bis fist. The fight was said I to have started from a quarrel over : Ufe of water in an irrigation ditch. I |
