Vigorous protest, however. ai registered against the bill. Members of the Automobile Vsers and Dealers assoctutions protested against th measure on the ground that it would place alt responsibility for careless-nesa careless-nesa upon the motorist and none upon , the railroad company. The engineers declared In their argument ar-gument that most automobile accidents at crossings are due to carelessness on the part of motorists and not from lack of caution on the part of engineer. Former Senator J. W. Kinney protested pro-tested against the bill on the ground that if would preclude victims of accidents acci-dents at railroad crossings from recovering re-covering uamages from the railroad companies even though the latter were held in blame. |
