Show $872,679 BID FOR RAILROAD OGDEN An J872.679 .76 bid was received Friday at public auction of properties of the Utah-Idaho Central Railroad company by P. H. Mulcahy, receiver for the road. The sale was conducted in front of the Weber county court house. The sale, ordered by Federal Judge Tillman D. Johnson last months must Je confirmed by the court before It is consummated. Report of the bid will be made to Judge Johnson "probably within with-in the next day or two," said Mr. Mulcahy. The lone bid was made by George S. Eccles, Marriner A. Browning and H. A. Benning for the bondholders' bond-holders' protective committee. Deposit De-posit of 10 per cent of the bid was to be made by 3 p. m. Friday. Sale of the properties "as a single unit and as an operating railroad" was ordered by Judge Johnson on petition of Mr. Mulcahy as receiver for the railroad company to satisfy a total debt of $2,225,000. Payment of the purchase price may be made by the bidders, if they so elect, by delivery of bonds of the railroad company to the receiver at par, plus accrued interest. in-terest. - The railroad operates an electric line and bus service between Ogden Og-den and Preston, Idaho, via Logan. Mr. Mulcahy was appointed receiver re-ceiver after bondholders' trustees and the First Security Bank of Utah instituted suit against the railroad company. |
