The upturn In injuries resulted from one "black" month December Decem-ber and was not surprising in view of the fact the twelfth month is recognized by safety authorities as the most hazardous of all for motorists mo-torists because of vatnter weather setting In and two holidays. Until December came along, the dty had a good chance of reducing the injury toll from that of 1938, for, la the first 11 months, the count of Injured wss 943. But 100 persons were Injured In December to spoil all hopes. Injury accidents totaled 99 la the month, but the rate of injury per accident was about one and one-half persons. December also was the worst month for total accidents of all kinds fatal. Injury and property damage wtth 170 being recorded. The next highest wss 137 In November.
